For home cooks

Using the button below you can fill in your details and indicate what you want to use your chef profile for. For example:

  • You can offer individual meals when it suits you,
  • be approached if someone in your area needs help with the hot meal one or more days a week,
  • or offer yourself as a volunteer who occasionally wants to cook for larger groups.

Have you entered all your details and verified your account by means of the verification email? Nothing stands in your way to start cooking now!

Every day we receive requests from people who could use some extra help about the hot meal or who are looking for more contact in their neighborhood. After we have mapped out all their wishes, we look for a home cook who fits. Have we received a request from someone who lives in your area and who matches your chef profile? Then you will automatically receive an email or phone call with all the details. You can check per request whether you can and want to help that neighbor or not. Would you rather start cooking immediately? Then offer a separate meal yourself, you can read below how that works.

Log in in your cooking dashboard using the button below. On the right-hand side you will then find a blue button "offer meal". You can choose yourself:

  • when you want to offer that meal;
  • until when applicants can order;
  • whether the meal needs to be picked up or whether you bring it along;
  • and of course what kind of treats you want to make!

Your meal will be ordered faster if you add a good (preferably one of yourself, but at least a royalty-free) photo and describe the dish as extensively as possible. This way applicants know what to expect and your meal will be picked up by a hungry neighbor in no time.

Cooking dashboard

If you offer a meal, an email will be sent to all your neighbors who are registered with Thuisgekookt. If you offer a meal at least 3 days in advance, your meal will appear several times in the e-mails and it is more likely that they will be ordererd.

If you, as a home cook, offer a meal on thuisgekookt.nl then it is of course nice if one or more enthusiastic neighbors come over immediately, but that is not always the case immediately. We are happy to give you some tips to increase the chance of collectors!

  • Provide an attractive profile with information about yourself and a profile picture
    Write a text about yourself and what you prefer to cook. A complete chef profile is important and creates confidence, the applicant would like to know who he / she will order a meal from.
  • Plan several (different) dishes ahead
    The collectors in your area have to get used to the fact that you have started cooking. If you plan several meals in advance - because of the emails that are sent (daily) to collectors - your meals will be sent several times and it is more likely that they will order. By planning a variety of dishes, you will also find out what your neighbors love the most!
  • Give your meal a clear description and add an attractive photo
    Have you decided which meal you want to offer? Collectors would like to know in advance what to expect. Therefore, describe the ingredients you use as extensively as possible. State clearly if the meal is vegetarian or contains meat and / or fish. Collectors appreciate this very much (especially people with allergies)! Take a nice picture once you have cooked the dish, a picture says more than a thousand words!
  • Calculate a fair price
    As a home cook you have the freedom to determine your own price. The most important thing is that you are not a commercial company and that you share the meal with your neighbors in a personal capacity. You determine the price per portion per dish. For example, you can spend less time and money for a homemade soup than for a stew. We recommend that you charge the costs for groceries and add 10% extra for gas, water, electricity and energy. That way you get a fair price. The average price of a shared meal via Home Cooked is between € 4 and € 6.
  • Keep going!
    When you become active as a new chef, the collectors in the area often have to get used to you joining them. It may therefore be that you do not immediately have takers for your meals. Don''t give up too soon! If a collector sees your offer a few times, they are interested.
  • Provide a good takeaway experience
    A collector will come back to you sooner for a next meal if the contact with you was pleasant the first time. Therefore, ensure a pleasant take-out experience. Follow the agreements made, show interest and make sure you work hygienically. Home cooking is not only for those who are in need of a hot meal, but also for those who are looking for more contact in the neighborhood.
  • Order Thuisgekookt postcards
    Let neighbors know you have started cooking with Thuisgekookt by sending them a postcard! You can order these here for a reimbursement of the shipping costs. The online version is also available.
  • Share your meal on social media
    To ensure that more people are able to find you, it helps very well to share your meals via social media! Share all your meals at once by sharing the link to your profile: www.thuisgekookt.nl/thuiskok/..... (enter your profile name on the dotted line). Or fill in and share our digital postcard.

In principle, it is intended that people who collect them bring their own container. However, in times of corona it is nice if there is as little physical contact as possible between the collector and the home cook. We therefore recommend that you purchase a number of disposable containers, for example, so that collectors can safely collect a meal from you.

In addition, most meals that are shared via Thuisgekookt are served warm. Do you prefer to share the meal cold? Write it in the description. In this way people without heating options know that they should not order your meal.

The siza of a portion, of course, depends on the type of dish you are making. An average portion on Thuisgekookt is 500 grams.

If you start working as a home cook, you will in principle cook voluntarily and offer meals for the cost price. Yes, this may be based on the costs for groceries with a little extra for gas, electricity and the olive oil that you already had in the cupboard. Most meals that are shared are between € 4 and € 6. We see that more expensive meals are collected less often.

If you still want to ask a higher price - because you cook with only organic products or very special ingredients, for example - then it is nice for collectors if you explain why that is in the description. On the website, a Home Cooked contribution of 10% per portion is automatically added to the price you have chosen. For example, if you, as a cook, offer a meal for € 4.00, a collector must then pay € 4.40. Home cooked is there for neighbors. Not for companies or commercial parties. Do you see a home cook who you think does not fit home cooking? Send an email to info@thuisgekookt.nl

In principle, there is no income for home cooks, if you follow the guidelines of Home Cooked. You do not have to report anything to the tax authorities.

Thuisgekookt is responsible for the platform we have set up to share meals. We therefore do everything we can to provide everyone with the correct information. Home cooking is not liable for any consequences arising from the sharing of meals or contact between neighbors.

As a home cook, it is very important that you adhere to the established hygiene and food safety guidelines, especially if you cook for people with vulnerabilities. The home cooks themselves are responsible for compliance with those rules. We trust that the home cooks who join Home Cooking will do everything they can to provide a safe meal.

We dont like rules so we have as few as possible. To avoid misunderstandings, we have drawn up some house rules and you can find our Prevention and Integrity Policy here.

  • The cook is responsible for the texts he / she publishes. No additional personal or company information (for example an email address or URLs to another website) is included.
  • The cook is responsible for a correct tax return of any income received from home cooking. In principle, meals are offered at the purchase price of the ingredients on Home Cooked, you do not pay any income tax on this.
  • The cook discreetly handles the details of the collector. It is not permitted to pass them on to third parties or to use them for commercial purposes.
  • The cook does not offer alcoholic drinks on Home Cooked.
  • The cook ensures that the meals can be collected within the agreed time frame. In the unlikely event that it cannot take place, the cook will inform the collector of this on time.
  • The cook has read through the points for attention regarding hygiene and safety and will try to comply with them as much as possible.

We ask for the reason for an order because we must be accountable for our activities to our financiers. Without the subsidies from municipalities and national funds, we cannot keep the website up and running and (vulnerable) people cannot help find a home cook. It is important for them to know the main reasons people have for picking up a meal from us, so that they in turn can assess whether the money is being sent to the right place. All data they receive from us is anonymized.

  1. Enter your search request using the button below. Hereby, you choose search type cook name in the dropdown menu and you enter the name of the cook in the search bar.

It is not possible to cancel a meal via the website. In the unlikely event that you cannot pick up a meal, it is best to contact the home chef in time and discuss the options with him / her.

  • The cook will refund the amount, you will then have lost the Home Cooked contribution (10% commission);
  • You agree with the chef to collect the same meal later;
  • You agree with the cook to receive a replacement meal.

Frequently asked questions about the transition to the new website

Because we cannot view or transfer passwords for security reasons, you must reactivate your new account. You do this by going through the following steps:

  1. Go to thuisgekookt.nl/en/password/migration and enter your e-mail address.
  2. You will receive an e-mail with a new activation link (note, this e-mail can end up in your junk e-mail).
  3. Click the blue button "set up your account on the new website".
  4. You will now be taken directly to your profile settings on the new website. When you have completed the full profile, choose a new password at the bottom.
  5. If nothing happens when you click the "activate account" button? Then scroll up, probably something is wrong or some data is missing.

The agreements you have made with the people for whom you cook one or more days a week are of course still running, but cannot be seen on the new website for the time being. This is because we are still developing the underlying pages. Your appointment and payment will therefore continue to run via the old website for the time being. Do you want to cancel a meal or view the payments? Then you can log in to oud.thuisgekookt.nl. The old website will remain online for the time being. As soon as this changes, we will notify you again. Is something not clear? Ask us via 085-0608768 if we would like to have a look or send an email to info@thuisgekookt.nl

Because we have switched to a new website from a new provider, our mails may end up in spam. It's a technical story, but it basically boils down to the need to build a reputation first before we are no longer seen as spam. This will take some time, but will be fine by itself.

Various home cooks were still using the Thuisafgehaald app. This has unfortunately been taken offline, because the new website no longer connects to this. Unfortunately, we cannot immediately launch a new app. However, the new Thuisgekookt website can also be used on your phone or tablet! A new app is certainly still on the schedule, but we have to wait a while. By first testing with the mobile website, we find out what must-haves are for the new Thuisgekookt app and we can spend the budget we have for this as well as possible.
