## Give a meal, give a connection The Thuisgekookt Foundation matches volunteer home cooks with neighbours for whom cooking every day is too much of a challenge, for example, due to illness, old age or a physical or mental disability. For Frans (85), whose life has become a lot quieter since his wife passed away, the weekly meal prepared by his home cook is about more than just food. It brings him a sense of companionship. Frans: “It’s a moment of genuine connection, from person to person. The loneliness I sometimes feel is an unpleasant sensation, and it’s precisely that extra attention that helps combat it.” A donation to the Thuisgekookt Foundation helps to make more of these encounters between neighbours possible.
